REVITALIZACIÓN DE ESPACIOS PÚBLICOS

This document focuses on the urban and social problems in the public space in the Plaza de la Hoja and its surroundings in Bogotá, Colombia. The abandoned buildings in this sector, which are not very permeable and have an erroneous design of public space, generate a feeling of insecurity in the Citizen. Little-used public spaces bring deterioration to the city and the quality of life of users. Upon entering the plaza de la hoja, a feeling of insecurity is perceived, a coarse bed of cement stands with very little vegetation, not being so crowded, having giant letters painted on the ground and with a lack of lighting, makes this area unsafe. The train track passes through of two vacant lots where homeless people settle, promoting an image of industry insecurity. A possible solution to the perception of insecurity in these types of surrounded public spaces of abandoned structures is as Whyte said. In the case of squares, the addition of more species of vegetation which can help mitigate the impact of noise from the highway and the visual and auditory pollution. Having seating areas encourages social interaction and ownership of these public spaces. Also, a possible solution is a possible space for the local artists, creating artistic murals and having other spaces for the exhibition of products of designers, in this case urban planning, the community and local artists who give life and identity to the same place. Space maintenance must also be maintained. public areas such as platforms and good lighting, changing use can be an alternative to giving it use to forgotten structures. This is how we can mitigate the perception of insecurity in spaces public.
